Of course, the show is not what it seems. The island is crawling with zombies, including former contestants. So the prisoners are not just competing against each other. They are also trying to stay alive long enough to escape.
Also, the island setting helps. It creates a trapped feeling without needing a huge budget. The characters have limited options, so the danger feels simple and direct.
The movie also has a scrappy energy that works in places. It knows it is not polished, but it still tries to deliver action, gore, and survival tension. Because of that, it can be fun if you enjoy rough indie horror.
The execution is uneven. The acting, dialogue, and effects can feel rough, even by low-budget standards. Also, the movie does not fully take advantage of its reality show idea, which could have been sharper and more satirical.
Doomed is not a great zombie movie, but it has a concept that makes it more interesting than many low-budget entries. If you like indie zombie films and can forgive rough edges, it may be worth a watch. Just go in expecting a scrappy B-movie experience.
