Prey for the Devil tries to shake up the possession genre. However, it still follows many familiar beats. So while the setup feels fresh, the execution stays safe.
Synopsis:
The story follows Sister Ann, a nun training at a school for exorcists. She believes she is meant to fight evil directly. However, women are not allowed to perform exorcisms, so she starts on the sidelines.

As she observes real cases, one situation begins to stand out. A young girl shows signs of possession, and Ann feels a personal connection. Because of that, she pushes further than she should.

Soon, the line between training and real danger fades. The more she gets involved, the more intense things become.

Summary:
The biggest strength is the lead performance from Jacqueline Byers. She brings emotion and focus to the role. Because of that, her character feels grounded even when the story shifts.

The concept also has potential. Focusing on a nun trying to break rules adds tension. It gives the story a different angle compared to typical possession films. Also, some scenes build atmosphere well, especially quieter moments.

The movie feels predictable. Many scenes follow patterns seen in other possession films. Because of that, the scares do not stand out as much as they could.

Prey for the Devil is decent but not memorable. It works as a simple horror watch, but it does not push the genre forward. If you like possession stories, it is still worth checking out.
