The Descent

Things go wrong quickly. A collapse blocks their exit, leaving them trapped in an unexplored cave system. As they try to find another way out, tensions rise and mistakes start to pile up.

Then they realize they might not be alone down there.

From that point on, the situation becomes more desperate and dangerous with every step.

The tension builds naturally. It starts with simple survival stress, then slowly adds more layers. By the time the full horror kicks in, you are already on edge. That buildup makes everything hit harder.

The cast also does a great job. Shauna Macdonald leads the film with a performance that feels emotional and grounded. The group dynamic adds to the tension since their relationships start to crack under pressure.

Another thing that stands out is how physical the movie feels. Every movement looks exhausting. Crawling through narrow spaces, climbing, running in the dark. It all adds to the sense that these characters are constantly on the edge of breaking.

Some of the character decisions can feel frustrating, especially when things start going wrong. While it adds to the chaos, there are moments where you might question why certain choices are made.

This is one of the most intense horror movies when it comes to pure tension and setting. It keeps things simple and executes them really well. If you enjoy survival horror that feels raw and claustrophobic, this is an easy recommendation.
