THey Will Kill You starts like a creepy cult horror movie. However, it quickly turns into something much wilder. Because of that, the movie feels more chaotic and energetic than most modern horror films.
Synopsis:
The story follows Asia, an ex-convict who takes a job as a housekeeper inside a strange New York apartment building known as the Virgil. At first, the place simply feels unsettling. However, the residents clearly know more than they admit.

As Asia searches for her missing sister, she discovers the building is tied to a dangerous cult. Soon, survival becomes her only priority. Because of that, the movie shifts into a violent mix of horror and action.

The deeper Asia goes into the Virgil, the stranger and bloodier things become.

Summary:
The biggest strength is the energy. They Will Kill You never slows down for very long. The action scenes are brutal, creative, and intentionally excessive. Because of that, the movie stays entertaining even when the story gets messy.

Zazie Beetz also carries the movie well. She balances vulnerability and aggression in a way that keeps Asia interesting. Meanwhile, the movie’s visual style gives everything a slick, chaotic feel that matches the tone perfectly.

The gore and practical effects deserve credit too. The filmmakers clearly wanted the violence to feel over-the-top and memorable. So fans of bloody horror will probably have a good time.

The movie borrows heavily from other horror and action films. Because of that, parts of it can feel more like a mashup of influences instead of something fully original. The nonstop chaos may also wear out viewers looking for a tighter story.

They Will Kill You is messy, loud, and completely over-the-top, but that is also part of the appeal. It works best when it stops worrying about logic and fully commits to the insanity. If you enjoy horror mixed with brutal action and dark humor, this one is worth checking out.
