A small group eventually bands together and hides inside a house. However, the outbreak becomes more bizarre as new dangers appear. Because of that, the movie shifts between zombie horror and sci-fi mystery.
The story keeps escalating as the survivors search for answers while trying to stay alive.
The practical effects and gore also work well. The movie leans heavily into exaggerated violence and dark humor. So the kills feel fun instead of overly serious.
Mungo McKay also stands out as the gun-loving Marion. His performance adds personality and helps give the movie its cult appeal. Meanwhile, the strange sci-fi elements make the story feel unique compared to most zombie movies.
The tone can feel messy at times. The movie jumps between horror, comedy, and sci-fi very quickly. Because of that, some viewers may find it hard to fully connect with.
Undead is weird, chaotic, and surprisingly creative. It does not always work, but it never feels boring. If you enjoy cult zombie movies that take risks, it is definitely worth watching.

“Undead” is the kind of movie that would be so bad it’s good, except it’s not bad enough to be good enough. It’s, let’s see, the sixth zombie movie I’ve seen in the last few years, after ” 28 Days Later ,” ” Resident Evil ,” the remake of “Dawn of the Dead,” ” Shaun of the Dead ” and “George Romero’s Land of the Dead.” That is a lot of lurching and screaming and heads blown off.
